Is adopting a child and giving birth to child different kinds of experience? What is on a mothers mind when she is ready to give birth to a child, or prepares herself to adopt a child? Behavioural scientists have tried to understand these questions, and tried to give various explanations. What I have understood is that mothering doesn’t necessarily have to come from a mother. Mothers who have never given birth can efficiently play the role of a mother. Any person who can raise a child is a mother.
